We are incredibly lucky to live in the beautiful Sussex Weald and have fantastic walking from the doorstep.
Wadhurst Park is absolutely wonderful and provides over 2,000 acres of stunning walking in private protected land, which is traditionally managed and maintained.
The closest entrance to the park is 15 minutes' walk from The Old Workshop (on Coombe Lane), albeit there are many routes in to the park via the footpath network.
Information in relation to walking in Wadhurst Park can be found here.
In addition to the public rights of way, the owners have kindly created extensive Permissive Paths (download map) within the park.
Snape Wood is just to the east of us and is easily reached through the fields on public footpaths. It is approximately 100 acres in total and is a mixed woodland with predominately sandy paths owned by the Forestry Commission.
We are very lucky to have the lovely Snape Wood so close. There is a handy 40 minute loop from The Old Workshop, entering the wood at the northern end (here) and exiting at the southern end (here), returning to the house via Snape Lane.
There is obviously much more of the woodland to explore if time allows!
